Blacksmithing

WoW Blacksmithing Guide 1 - 525

This WoW Blacksmithing guide will show you the fastest and easiest way to level your Blacksmithing skill up from 1 to 525. Updated for WoW patch 4.3

Blacksmithing is the best combined with Mining and I highly recommend to level Mining and Blacksmithing at the same time, because you will need a lot of gold if you want to buy everything from AH. Go to my WoW Mining guide, if you want to level Mining.

It will take a lot of dedication to get to the end and get those epic items. Also, like other crafting trades, the benefits only really start showing at the end, so this Blacksmithing guide will be a massive gold drain all the way up to 525.

If you are low on gold, I recommend you to try this Gold Making Guide, it can help you to make loads of gold.

If you are still leveling your character or you just started a new alt, I recommend you to use a leveling guide. You can level your character to Level 85 in 5 days with this Guide.

WoW Blacksmithing Leveling Guide 1 - 525

First, visit any trainer in the main cities of old Azeroth - just ask a guard, and learn Apprentice Blacksmithing.

75 - 125

Learn Blacksmithing Journeyman.

  • 75 - 90
    35 x [Coarse Grinding Stones] - 70 Coarse Stones

Save the Coarse Grinding Stones and if you have a lot more Coarse Stone or it is really cheap, then you should make this up to 100 and you can skip the next step.

If you didn't reach 90 by making these, you can still continue to the next step, but you will need a few more Copper Bars, or make a few more Coarse Grinding Stones.

  • 100 - 107
    7 x [Silver Rod] - 7 Silver Bar, 14 Rough Grinding Stone

You might need to make more than 7. You can also skip this part and just make Runed Copper Belt if you don't have any Silver Bar.

125 - 200

Learn Blacksmithing Expert.

  • 125 - 140
    35 x [Heavy Grinding Stone] - 105 Heavy Stone

Keep the Heavy Grinding Stones. Make this one up to 150 if Heavy Stone is cheap.

  • 150 - 155
    5 x [Golden Rod] - 5 Gold Bar, 10 Coarse Grinding Stone

Green Dye is sold by Tailoring and Leatherworking supply vendors.

200 - 300

Learn Blacksmithing Artisan.

This recipe is sold by these NPCs. There is around 30 minutes respawn rate for the recipe, this means you have to wait a bit if someone bought it before you. Make [Mithril Scale Pants] if you do not want to wait for the recipe to respawn or check the Auction House and look for [Plans: Heavy Mithril Pants]

  • 235 - 250
Check the Auction House, if you can see the Mithril Spurs recipe and it's not that expensive, buy it and make those until 255.

    15 x [Mithril Coif] - 150 Mithril Bar, 90 Mageweave Cloth

  • 275 - 290

Between 275-280, you can make [Arcanite Rods] and sell them at the Auction House. This way you will need 55 less [Thorium Bars]. The recipe is yellow, so it really depends on your luck, maybe you will only need to make 5 maybe 10.

One [Arcanite Rod] costs around 18 gold to make if you buy the [Arcane Crystals] and find any Alchemist who transmute them into [Arcanite Bars]. The 55 [Thorium Bars] cost around 140 gold usually, but this way if you have to make only 5 [Arcanite Rod], you will end up around 90 gold spent, and you can also sell them for profit. I can usually sell them for around 70-80 gold, but you have to be patient because the demand for them isn't that high.

Anyway this is a great way if you want to reduce the gold spent while you level your Blacksmithing, but if you want to level the profession faster and you don't really feel you are lucky or you are not really into selling things at the Auction House, you should just make the Bracers mentioned below.

15 x [Imperial Plate Bracers] 180 Thorium Bar

  • 290 - 300
Choose one from the recipes listed below. They both requires 12 Thorium Bar for each craft, the only difference between them is that you need 1 Star Ruby for the Helm and 8 Rugged Leather for the Boots.

    10 x [Thorium Boots] - 120 Thorium Bar, 80 Rugged Leather

    or

    10 x [Thorium Helm] - 120 Thorium Bar, 10 Star Ruby

300 - 350

Visit your trainer and learn Blacksmithing Master.

  • 325 - 330
10 x [Lesser Rune of Warding] - 10 Adamantite Bar

If Adamantite Bar is cheap on your server you can make this one up to 335.

350 - 425

Visit your trainer and learn Blacksmithing Grand Master.

Make [Saronite Defender] or [Saronite Protector] if Saronite Bar is cheaper than Cobalt Bar.

  • 415 - 425
13 x [Eternal Belt Buckle] - 52 Saronite Bar, 13 Eternal Earth, 13 Eternal Shadow, 13 Eternal Water

You can also make [Titanium Rod] between 420-425 if you have Titanium Bars.

425 - 525

Visit your trainer and learn Blacksmithing Illustrious.

From here, you will see that sometimes you will craft an item which requires a bit more materials than the other one. The reason for this is that if you don't mass produce an item, it's easier to sell them (you should) at the Auction House for profit.

  • 425 - 455
    83 x [Folded Obsidium] - 166 Obsidium Bar

Stop making these when you reach 455, make more only if you need them. If you choose different recipes you might need less than 80.

  • 455 - 459
Make 4 from any recipe that requires 3 Folded Obsidium.

Almost all of the following items will give you multiple skill-ups per craft!

  • 494 - 500
    2 x [Stormforged Helm] - 40 Elementium Bar, 16 Volatile Earth

You can also make 2 x [Hardened Obsidium Helm] (8 Folded Obsidium, 30 Elementium, 12 Volatile Earth), but I think Elementium is easier to farm than Obsidium.

  • 500 - 512
    4 x [Redsteel Breastplate] - 60 Elementium Bar, 60 Volatile Earth

You can also buy the [Plans: Pyrium Weapon Chain] recipe for 20 Elementium Bar and make the recipe up to 510 if Pyrium is cheap.

You can buy this recipe in all major cities near your Blacksmithing Trainer, the NPC is labeled as "Blacksmithing Supplies". This does not include Dalaran and Shattrath.

  • 512 - 515
Read the section above, because from this point that's the only way to buy recipes. You could start making the recipe that I recommend for the 515 part, so you don't need to buy the Gauntlet recipe, however I think it easier to sell the items if you make both Gauntlets and Belts.

3 x [Vicious Ornate Pyrium Gauntlets] - 30 Elementium Bar, 30 Volatile Water

    or

    3 x [Vicious Pyrium Gauntlets] - 30 Elementium Bar, 30 Volatile Fire

I hope you liked this WoW Blacksmithing Guide, GZ to 525!
